Trick-or-Treating Tips for Families at Harlow
If you’re heading out in our neighbourhood, here’s a few tips to keep your little pumpkins safe around the patch.
- Plan your route before you go. Stick to footpaths or well-lit streets and pick a loop through the estate that your kids can manage comfortably.
- Head out early. With daylight savings now here, it’s still light until 7.30-8pm, so we recommend starting the frights and fun as early as possible.
- Get their glow on. Add reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes and bring a torch for the walk home so you can be easily seen.
- Keep younger kids close. Have an adult with every group and agree on a meeting point or time to be home with the older kids.
- Take care near water. With more than 100 hectares of parks and wetlands on your doorstep, keep a close eye on your little ones near wetland edges.
- Check treats at home. Check their lolly bags before anything gets eaten, especially if they have allergies.
Halloween is a great excuse to meet the neighbours! If you’d like to welcome trick-or-treaters, pop a carved pumpkin or a few decorations by the front door so families know you’re in. LED candles in your pumpkins are also a safer choice than real flames.
