The Budget focuses on delivering value for residents, with $423 million set aside to deliver a suite of much-needed programs and services and $167.2 million to fund capital works projects.

Some highlights of the Capital Works budget include:

• $6.5 million for the Tarneit North Masterplan
• $6.1 million for Alfred Road Reserve
• $8.9 million for road reconstructions
• $5.5 million for the Truganina Community Centre
• $4.1 million for the Coastal and Marine Plan
• $4.0 million for the redevelopment of the Cultural Centre

The Budget also includes $19.8 million in funding to improve parks, open spaces and streetscapes as Council looks to increase pride in Wyndham and deliver a more liveable city.

Sticking with that theme, the Keep Wyndham Clean program is set to ramp up, accompanied by special ‘Litter Blitzes’ which will target hotspots and selected locations based on intelligence and reports from residents.

Commuters will be pleased to hear that a total of $31.3 million will be spent on building, upgrading and maintaining the City’s local road network, while $5.1 million will be spent on the Active Transport Strategy. This will see footpaths and cycleways installed or upgraded across the municipality, providing a safer and more convenient network for residents to get around.

For families, $14.7 million has been set aside for maternal and child health and immunisation services, with a further $18.7 million to be spent on Kindergarten and Child Centre services.
